SEL for Grown-Ups in Childcare (2 of 3)

We teach social-emotional intelligence to our children, but are we following best practice in our interactions with other adults? How well do we communicate our needs and listen to others?  How do we reflect on setbacks and stay resilient?  If you could use a little tune-up, this is a unique opportunity for ECE teachers and directors to unpack emotional challenges that are unique to childcare and gain practical tools to use on a daily basis in your work in childcare.

For teachers and directors alike, we explore Brene Brown’s BRAVING model as the foundation as we self-assess our emotional selves as professionals in ECE.  This simple trust inventory identifies ways we can make connections and communicate our needs and boundaries, while holding ourselves and each other accountable in a kind way.  We work on a personal/professional plan that will help strengthen trust and build healthy relationships with our co-workers, bosses, and/or staff.  And lastly, we apply Growth Mindset, a practical, practice-based model that will help everyone reach their goals one step at a time.
