DESCRIPTION:This workshop investigates the processing of our eight senses (yes\, eight!) and their role in early learning and development.  When fully understood\, teachers can assemble a variety of sensory processing activities as a toolbox to reach all learners\, especially those that need to move constantly.  Teachers can adjust current curriculum and teaching strategies to include more physical activities\, even when space and time is limited\, including: \n\nProblematizing the environment to keep them busy\nEnergy release activities – heavy work AND mental work\nEnergy calming practices – inclusive of all and individualized\n\nTogether\, we will explore how to create inclusive environments and curriculum that help all kiddos harness their energy and transform it into productive\, meaningful learning experiences.

DESCRIPTION:Exploring Behavior through the Eyes of a Child\, Inspired by Reggio PLC  \n12-hours – 4 3-hour sessions OR 6 2-hour sessions \nOnline\, In-person\, Hybrid \nAge Group: T\, PS\, SA \nIn this unique Professional Learning Community\, we explore children’s behavior by examining our own “image of the child” and how this influences behavior in your classroom.  Become inspired to join the children on an inquiry adventure and learn how to facilitate more cooperation\, empathy\, and citizenship that positively shifts children’s behaviors.  The trick is to establish a culture of curiosity and belonging that will keep children challenged and excited about co-constructing curriculum with you and each other.   To do this\, we explore the following key elements of the Reggio Emilia approach that support guiding children’s behavior: \n\nChild as protagonist\, collaborator\, and communicator\nEnvironment as third teacher\nTeacher as partner\, nurturer\, and guide\nDocumentation as communication\n\nTraining Session Topics Include (spread out over 6 sessions): \n\nYour “Image of the Child” and its connection to behaviors in your classroom\nRhythm & Flow: establishing flexible structure for positive guidance\nGuiding behaviors using documentation and storytelling\nReflective practice and celebration of learning\n\nTeaching teams are encouraged to attend together.  Each session provides time for reflection and teaching team collaborative work. \n
