Exploring Behavior through the Eyes of a Child, Inspired by Reggio PLC

Age Group:

Teachers and Administrators of children under age 6

PLC Description

Become inspired to join the children on an inquiry adventure and see more cooperation, empathy, and citizenship along the way!  From the child’s perspective, we explore Louis Boyd Cadwell’s Key Elements of Reggio that lay the foundation for authentic and productive Reggio-inspired learning environments that provoke organization, inquiry, and cooperation:

  • Child as Protagonist, Collaborator, and Communicator
  • Environment as Third Teacher
  • Teacher as Partner, Nurturer, and Guide
  • Organization as Foundational
  • Teacher as Researcher
  • Documentation as Communication
  • Parents as Partners

Designed as an introduction to the Reggio Emelia philosophy, this series focuses on synchronizing teaching teams using the “Image of the Child” as our compass.  Learn how to harness each child’s perspective to provoke inquiry and organically drive investigations that keep children engaged in productive play and excited to find answers to meaningful questions.

Training Topics Include (3 Hours each):

  1. The “Image of the Child” and its Connection to Behaviors in the Classroom
  2. Rhythm & Flow: Establishing Flexible Structure for Positive Guidance
  3. Communicating and Storytelling in the Learning Community
  4. Reflective Practice and Celebration of Learning

Each session provides ample time for reflection, teaching team collaborative work, and planning for classroom application.
